Always Already — Thoughts about alreadiness

“Already” is a loaded word.

“Already” means Now, the sheer now-ness of everything, everything is united as One in this precise immediate presence. Everything has this now-ness in common. Everything is pressed up against it and never separate from it.

It also means this imagined separate little me didn’t bring it — it brought me — it takes me along, it takes me in and has had full hold of me so fully that I AM THAT.  I was never NOT that.

It also means timelessness, in its absolute immediacy, its eternal alreadiness.

It also implies a certain peace, a timeless inherent stillness, without time for any movement or disturbance, peace beyond understanding.

Now I may set aside all this verbiage, and just quietly abide as what was always already here, as this presence-awareness.

Ramana Maharshi - various quotes

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE MIND TO KNOW THE LORD WHO IMPARTS HIS LIGHT TO THE MIND, AND SHINES WITHIN THE MIND, EXCEPT BY TURNING THE MIND INWARD AND FIXING IT ON THE LORD?

THE SOURCE OF THE 'I' THOUGHT HAS TO BE ENQUIRED INTO.

THE FALSE 'I' IS THE OBSTRUCTION WHICH HAS TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER THAT THE TRUE 'I' MAY CEASE TO BE HIDDEN.

THE BODY-CONSCIOUSNESS IS THE  WRONG 'I'.  GIVE IT UP.

IF YOU OBSERVE AWARENESS STEADILY, THIS AWARENESS ITSELF  AS GURU WILL REVEAL THE TRUTH.

YOU AND I ARE THE SAME. WHAT I HAVE DONE IS SURELY POSSIBLE FOR ALL. YOU ARE THE SELF NOW AND CAN NEVER BE ANYTHING ELSE. THROW YOUR WORRIES TO THE WIND. TURN WITHIN AND FIND PEACE.

THE SELF IS ALWAYS REALIZED. IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO SEEK TO REALIZE WHAT IS ALREADY AND ALWAYS REALIZED.

From out of nowhere

Where is this awareness in me coming from?
What in me is aware-ing?
It cannot be seen, but it is by which all is seen, they say.
If it cannot be seen, feel around for it.  What does it feel like?  It feels like what's looking,
what's aware of being aware, my innermost being, my innermost self, the sense I AM.
And God says I AM that I am.
Stay with that. Behold that. Hold on to that.
Roll it around in your mind. Ponder over it.

See if it’s coming from a central point,
or it’s coming from all over, out of nowhere.
